Jamun is an important summer fruit, associated with many health and medicinal benefits. Jamun is known to relieve stomach pain, carminative, anti-scorbutic and diuretic. Jamum’s polyphenolic compounds are effective against cancer, heart diseases, diabetes, asthma and arthritis. Various digestive disorders i.e. flatulence, bowel spasm, stomach disorders, dysentery are cured by jamun. Jamun is known by different names such as jambul, jambas, jamun, jambolan, rajaman, kala jamun, neredu, naval, nerale, jamali, java plum, black plum and blackberry. Thought the benefits are unlimited, but a lot of those haven't been documented properly and Ayurveda shows some respect for this fruit.

The Jamun Tree is extremely tall, which makes it difficult to pull down the Jamun Fruit.


Less Availability

This Fruit is available for only 3 weeks in a year and that’s just before the beginning of Monsoon.



99% of the Jamun grows in the Wild and perishes in the wild. This fruit cannot be ripened in a ripening room. It ripens on its tree only.


Hard to Preserve

Preserving the fruit in refrigeration doesn't work, as the Seed soaks-in the juice from the pulp in Refrigeration.

Health benefits of Jamun are unparalleled, but due to the above listed Con’s, it becomes very difficult to get the real fruit on the consumers table for more than 2 weeks. Wild Bears living in the jungle’s purely survive on Jamun’s for those 3-4 weeks and get themselves loaded with the nutrition of this fruit for whole year. We humans cannot do the same, as we cannot tolerate same taste for more than 2 meals.
